Throughout their four years, students in Personalized Pathways will experience a combination of what is working best in Madison schools – close-knit communities, academic goal-setting, challenging and relevant coursework, integrated projects and exploration of college and career options.

The difference is that these elements will be brought together around a broad theme. Students will learn the skills they need for success after high school in a way that connects their coursework to their personal interests and the world around them.

There are currently two pathways available at La Follette High School. They are the Health Services Pathway and the Information Technology & Communication (ITC) Pathway.

What's the difference between the two pathways?

Health Services

Students in this pathway will explore questions like

  • How could we better support the emotional and mental well-being of La Follette students?
  • What barriers disrupt people’s access to healthy food?
  • How do healthcare providers work effectively with people from a range of diverse cultures?
  • What makes someone a leader?

Information Technology & Communication

Students in this pathway will explore questions like

  • What technology can I create or design that will impact my community?
  • How do technologies connect people who will never meet each other in person?
  • What security and protections of privacy are needed in this digital age?
  • How are emerging technologies changing who has access to power?

We are excited about this opportunity, which will expose high school students to a broad range of college, career and community options. It’s also an opportunity for the community to connect with students and support them as they apply the skills they learn. By tapping into students’ interests, Personalized Pathways will increase the relevancy of the high school experience for all students and better prepare them for college, career and community.
